Kinf Of NY competition

http://www.kingofnewyorkbmx.com/

The one and only King of New York™ is back again for 2008! This year we'll be shaking things up and so for the first time, the event has moved to Brooklyn. Millennium Skatepark is the spot in Owl's Head Park in Bay Ridge. The event is FREE to watch so come out and enjoy. This year's dates are Saturday August 9 (Prelims) and Sunday, August 10 (Finals,) 2008. Come chill and ride open practice on Friday, August 8. Not much compares to our home in the Bronx, but guaranteed, Brooklyn will represent as always.

The premier Pro/Am BMX Freestyle Competition in New York City, The King of New York is one of the longest running bicycle stunt competitions in the world and the only one of its kind in New York City. Always featuring the most insane riding by the best NYC has to offer, winning the King of New York allows bragging rights and a place in New York City action sports history. The 2007 Pro Final was the most highly contested in some time and 2007 Pro Champion Jorge Jovel attained the crown once again, but this time by the narrowest of margins. Attracting entrants and spectators from all over the globe, King of New York event craziness in the past has included performances by live DJs, raving lunatic wrestlers in leather masks, and NYC's own Sick Of It All. Two-thousand-eight will be no different.

Thanks… Much love should go out to all who have contributed to the 2008 King of New York event and building this website: Logo concept: Lou Perez, Jorge Jovel, Pablo Perez, Rob Ramos, Casio Perez, Danny Parks; Final logo design: Marcus Jergensen-Autographik; Website design: Jae Yoon, Hector Duarte, and Marcus Jergensen-Autographik; Ignacio Soltero at Brooklyn Bike Riders, Peter Marney, Louis B., Jorge Jovel, and Danny Ortiz for their great photos used on this site and elsewhere; Todd Aikens - Head Judge, and Ivan Avilez. 2008 Sponsors for their awesome support: Mike at Scion, Nardelli at Zoo York, Gary and Russ at Woodward Camp, Jim, Mike, and Dave at Mirraco, Trevor at Diamond Back, Steve at Tri-Flow, Marco at Props, Commissioner Spiegel, Chiefs Rodriguez and Henry, Deputy Chief Gillen, Hugo Chance, and everyone from the New York City Parks Department who gave us support. Don't forget to check out the Sponsors page and support those who support BMX! Special thanks to Ed Pollio, the Construction Master, and the many, many others who gave advice and took time out of their schedules to give much more than their ten cents, and to Matthew Morgan at Rebel Music Management for connecting us with J. Period and Game Rebellion for the music heard on the 2008 site. Check them out at www.gamerebellion.com. Extra special thanks: Tavian Parks. Finally, thanks to Lou Perez for creating this whole thing back in '95 called the King of New York. We all know the real deal.

I might go.  Sounds like a good time.  Hopefully the rain will hold off.  Can't make up my mind on which day to go though.  Now that I have a tarp up over my halfpipe, I can ride in the rain.  So, I'm turning into a homebody.  ;)
